Named after the small hill behind the house, Alice Howe sleeps 14 comfortably in 7 bedrooms and is perfect for a large group holiday in The Lakes. Each bedroom has a radio alarm clock, white cotton bedding, TV and a number have DVD players. 5 of the rooms have ensuite shower rooms.
The house has 2 living rooms, so you can put the kids in one and have peaceful adult time in the other. The front sitting room has an open fire, leather settees, TV, DVD player and a hi-fi with iPod dock. The rear lounge has a TV, DVD jukebox with around 200 films, a wood burning stove and leather settees. The dining room has a huge table perfect for entertaining a group of 14. The room also has an open fire surrounded by a Pugin-designed fireplace, similar to the one he designed for Westminster Palace. It is also equipped with a Bose iPod dock.
We upgraded the final two bedrooms in April 2010, adding king-size chunky four poster beds for the romantics in your party. Every bedroom in the house has had a makeover in the last 18 months.
The rear walled courtyard enjoys a view of Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright took his first view of the Lake District - a view that changed his life for ever! The courtyard has a huge teak table and chairs, perfect for dining alfresco and its surrounding walls mean that it’s usually protected from the wind.
As you’d imagine, the property has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished and consequently has been awarded 4 stars by Visit England.
Alice Howe is the perfect large house to rent in the Lake District for a group of 14 for a holiday or weekend break.
